Autobiography means to lie. To write your lie. But, what is “to write”? 
    (What is “-graphy”?) 
 Anyway. To keep up. Appearances? Or not to appear? Walking, walking in the rain, as Grace Jones sings. 
 You try to be…interesting? To stand out? In the deluge of all that is. Like lighting a match inside of a burning house (or atom bomb going off…). 
     It is not so much the fact that you can accept having been wrong (stupid, misinformed, confused, whatever), but not wanting to pass on the disease. 
(Maybe the beer you have for breakfast, now, everyday, is called “Superior”. Sure. But does that really mean that you are superior? Really? Does it?)
